  • Description
    • A fear of flying prevents many people from travelling by air to their destinations. Common perception has the public believing that the safest way to avoid death by plane crash is to avoid taking flight at all. Ironically, when a plane goes down sometimes the people on the ground suffer just as tragically as those aboard the lost aircraft. The Empire State Building Crash: In July of 1945, a B-25 Bomber lost in fog, rammed into the 79th floor of what was then the world’s tallest building, the Empire State Building. On impact, the fuel tanks exploded, igniting several floors and sending the engine plowing through the building and through the roof of a neighbouring building. The Moose Jaw Air Crash: On April 8, 1954 a Harvard RCAF trainer and a TransCanada North Star collide over the city of Moose Jaw killing 36 passengers and one woman on the ground.
